Mine eye affecteth mine heart Lamentations 3:51
“Hey, Honey,” Stephen said to me on a Saturday morning, “Do you think you could do a quick and simple black
and white line drawing of Cain and Abel for Sunday school tomorrow?” The large-scale drawings were prepared quickly enough but I decided that they really needed some color. So I got out my pastels and thus Illustrated Evangelism was born. That simple Sunday school lesson had such an impact because people could see the lesson – the eternal results of the choices made by Cain and Abel.
Illustrations have become a major element of our teaching and public outreach. We regularly use large scale pictures for open air preaching. For door-to-door visitation we have developed evangelism booklets. These booklets use only pictures; there are no words; this makes it possible for even our illiterate workers to present the Gospel in a manner which will hold the attention of the hearers. After doing the original artwork, pages are scanned, color printed, laminated, and bound. These books easily travel to villages beyond our town and we are making them available to pastors who have been through our training seminars.
Illustrations are also very effective for use in schools where we have open invitations to teach Bible lessons and preach the Gospel.
Whether it is signs for street work, booklets for personal work, or large scale pictures for teaching and
preaching, the studio at the top of Mission Mountain is very busy trying to keep up with the demand for materials. Please see our photo page entitled “Outreach” to see more pictures of Illustrated Evangelism in use.
