Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

This month my family and I took a day to visit 4 different cities in Florida. Our purpose was to stand for JESUS. We did this by finding a busy intersection in each of the cities. We held verse signs and had tracts to pass out. It is always interesting to see what reaction we will get!

Each Thursday, my mom, brothers and I work in a GOOD NEWS CLUB at the YMCA in DeLand. Mom and I take turns teaching the Bible lesson and memory verse. My brothers help in any way that they are needed. Our friend, Holly, is also a part of our team. We all enjoy this ministry. I am thankful for the experience it is giving me in teaching children about the LORD JESUS.

Teaching a Bible Lesson

One of the highlights of each year is our Church’s Annual Bible Conference. I look forward each year to the preachers that come to minister to us. This year LUKE 4 was the passage that was used. From this passage we learned that while Satan has power, and he is going about his business, JESUS is always triumphant.

Bible Conference is a time where the singing gives you goose bumps. It is something I only hear at Bible Conference, and I really enjoy it.  I enjoy being a server during meal times. I love being able to meet everyone as they come through the food line. We also go out on the street with signs and tracts. It is nice to be out with many Christians standing up for JESUS. I enjoy meeting new people. This year, I met Iris. Her family was ‘assigned’ to our pew.

Bible School has started up again. Although I have graduated, I am taking 2 more classes. There is always more I can learn.  I am starting to learn the KRIO language with a New Testament that Laura left with me.

December 2011

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Aimee

This is a verse that I have heard often in the last three years, but it is one that is well worth remembering.  God has given us His Word to be able to know Him through it. We need to take the time not only to read it, but also to heed this verse and study His Word.

For three years, I have been studying the Bible at the Deland School of the Bible and while officially I graduated on December 18th, the aspect of studying the Bible is still necessary and important in my life. The command to study is one that has no end because there is always more to learn so that we can rightly divide God’s word.

One of the things I learned in my first semester, and was impressed on me again this last semester, is that there is so much in the Bible. If we just read the pages of God’s Word, we can learn so many things, but when you see how verses in the Old and New Testaments work together to explain a truth it is amazing. It is remarkable to see all the prophecies that God promised concerning Jesus, his birth, life and death, in the Old Testament and then to see the verses regarding their fulfillment in the New Testament. How throughout the Old and New Testaments there are truths regarding the second coming and the tribulation. The Bible is an amazing book inspired by an amazing God! I am grateful to Bro. James and the other men who willingly give of their time to teach the Bible, they are all a blessing.

Outside of class time, I greatly enjoyed being able to participate in the outreach activities of the Church. Whether it was passing out tracts at races, football games, or parades, distributing booklets door to door, a mission trip to Trinidad, going to the nursing homes they have all been a great learning experience and wonderful times of fellowship with others who participated.

The past three years have been a wonderful time of learning for me.  The tests were not always easy, studying was hard at times, but I have learned many things that will help me as I strive to serve the LORD.

Now that school is complete, I plan on taking some more classes. I like to study.  In 2012, I will be working on preparations for my year with the Holts in Sierra Leone.  I want to learn the language as much as possible, brush up on my piano playing skills, perfect my teaching skills with children, get some vaccinations,  and prepare my heart to serve the LORD there. I will also spend 2 weeks in Greece in 2012 on a mission trip.

The paper she worked so hard to receive is now hers!

Aimée was asked to pick the final hymn for the evening. She chose Sound The Battle Cry.

The 3 graduates, Wade, Todd and Aimée with Bro James.

Apparently, Aimée is the only one NOT tired after this semester!

October 2011

2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Born and raised in the Sunshine State, Aimée grew up knowing the scriptures from an early age. Though she did not see her need of a Saviour until she was 15, the respect for God’s Word and those who served Him on the mission field was already set.

When missionaries came to the churches Aimée attended, she was always eager to hear about the different cultures and people the missionaries served and the adventures they had along the way. While still eager to learn about the cultures and the adventures, she has developed a greater desire to hear about how God has worked in the lives of the missionaries and those they are trying to reach with the gospel. That desire has continued to deepen in her heart to where she, too, desires to tell others of the saving grace of Jesus.

After graduating from high school as Valedictorian of her class, (she was home schooled) she and her older brother, Todd, desired go to Bible school. In January of 2009, the Tanselle family began attending The BIBLE Baptist Church of Deland, where Aimée and her brother have faithfully attended the Deland School of the Bible and participated in its many outreach opportunities. She and Todd will graduate in December 2011.

Aimée’s interest in missions has not wavered. She has expressed the desire to do short term missions work, but was uncertain where she might serve in that capacity. When she met the Holts at The BIBLE Baptist Church in 2009 and heard about the work in Sierra Leone, Aimée became very interested in going to be a help to them. A simple statement of her desire to be a help to Stephen and Laura has brought about the opportunity to do so in the Spring of 2013.

Aimée is now dilegently preparing to work with the children in Sierra Leone by teaching Sunday School, teaching in Good News Clubs through Child Evangelism Fellowship at a YMCA, and by doing various Gospel outreach ministries through her church to share the Gospel with others.  On this page you will be able to follow her progress.  Aimée plans to spend a year with the Holts getting first-hand experience on a remote mission station.
